Tasmania 2026, Day 1

After a nice and early wakeup, an easy train trip and uncomplicated check-in, we caught our plane on time. Bit bumpy coming into Hobart, and really noticed the landscape differences with it currently being dry season, as opposed to September when it's after the winter rains. Shades of brown everywhere,  with the odd cultivated paddock appearing bright green. Timing is everything and we scored, walking straight out and onto the waiting bus to Central Hobart.

After checking into "The Ditty House", our cute little BNB, and having a much needed cuppa, we were ready to tackle some walking. Public buses proved great again, and after arriving back at Salamanca Place we wandered through Battery Point checking out all the old gorgeous houses, then along a bit of the bay past people fishing. Very pleasant weather, as because humidity is low it doesn't feel hot at all.

Then because we'd now worked up an appetite we just had to try fish and chips, and an icecream from Van Diemans Land Icecreamery,  as Naarahs friend from work had said she must.We can't refuse an order like that!

Finally, shopping for some bits and bobs of groceries,  we can never get away from grocery shopping, it seems.  Just when we thought we'd have to walk home, uphill all the way for 30 minutes,  we realised we hadn't missed the last bus after all, so counting our blessings we joyfully jumped on and then only have a 30 sec downhill walk to our place 😁.

Afternoon cuppa time.
Cute big fat bees.
Place to lay our heads.
View down to Hobart,  doesn't really show elevation,  but so glad we didn't have to walk up!!!
