Day 11. Tasmania Cradle Mountain. Dove lake walk.

Having been told to be prepared to walk, whatever the weather, we set off in t he constant light rain. Had to try out our Trekshield poncho properly. The path after the board walk finished resembled a small creek in many places, but at least it wasn't muddy. First destination was the boat shed on Cradle Lake, where we hoped to have some shelter. Was suitably beautiful,  and relatively dry in the right spots, the old timber shingle roof not quite waterproof.

Suitably refreshed, and leaving the boat shed to the next group of hikers, intrepid Overlanders,  I told myself, that will be me one day, we set off again, with our hitchhikers- leeches. Only discovered in 5-10 minutes when one waltzed across my glasses, and I thought it was an errant stick/hair I couldn't brush off. It was wet, glasses were fogging up, light mist blowing on them, and so harder to see. Inspection ensued, only one bite. Naarah had none, but I'd sat down in the boat shed. Need ultra light stool!!.

Made it to Wombat pool (now wombat poo, due to vandalism) via Wombat Peak, where the Overland track branches off, lovely and misty due to rain, so poor views.

Got slightly clearer weather at Wombat Pool,  then on to Dove Lake circuit, catching the much photographed boat shed before many more hikers/tourists arrived,  thanks to the rain! Continued on around Dove lake,  being informed that one must go clockwise on a number of occasions. To clarify, its only recommended,  but as we entered circuit from different path,  we did not, and no one was pushed off the path because of our behaviour!

The information place is huge, do we were able to find a place inside to have our picnic before catching the bus back to our cute cabin.
