Day 9, 3/10/26, up to the Cairngorms, Balmoral castle.
Catching up on more Castles we decided to go to Balmoral castle, at least this one's not in ruins, as still the holiday residence of the royals.
On the way investigated the suspension bridge over the River Dee. Very pleasant picturesque little walk.
Was 110 pounds each for the inside tour though, so contented ourselves with the ballroom, the outside and the gardens. It is beautiful, and King Charles, liking his gardens, has definitely got his gardeners working over time at this one. Naarah and I not quite green with jealousy at the size of his brassicas, and abundance of flowers in the cottage border garden, but then the weather is much kinder over here, and we don't have a team of gardeners to do the hard yakka for us. Again we were blessed with the weather, and actually got sunshine again, still needed our jackets though as due to elevation and the wind, it felt cold.
The CastleAutumn colours.
